Author Topic: April fools day virus?  (Read 7890 times)

Don't buy a mac. If everyone buys a mac then they will no longer be secure because they'll control the market and people will write viruses for them.

See where this logic takes you? You're making the Internet less safe for yourself by telling other people to buy a mac!

Wow i just thought it is going to really suck to get a virus on a Mac because then there much less anti-virus programs for it. I think that mac is in third over OSs.
1.Windows
2.Linux(go Ubuntu!)
3.Mac

Because Windows has 90% of the market. I laughed at that.

That's why we're affected, cause no one would want to take the time to infect you little buggers. There's not enough of you!

I'm a PC and I'm only 3 and a half years owld.
You see, I don't believe that.  If I were I virus maker, I would be looking for the best way to target as many people as I could for as long as I could.  You could target the large population of windows, or you could also aim for the unprotected mac users, who have no virus protection at all and for the most part don't worry about security.  If it were simply a matter of choosing one or another I think there would be viruses for macs.  As for what your saying are viruses, I would disagree with what I considered actually a virus.  The "viruses" that are in those pirated applications should more accurately be considered malicious  script that takes advantage of user stupidity.  Those scripts have to be installed by the user, most likely requiring the user to put in an admin password.  Take that compared to viruses you get on windows that infect you by simply going to a website, or in some cases simply being on the internet, and those are two completely different things.

The trojans you get from pirating software are the very same ones you can get from a website, and they don't require a password or anything. They don't rely on people's stupidity at all beyond the fact that they are pirating random stuff to begin with.

lets see, if i shut down my internet connection from march 31st to about april 5th, if i do have the virus will it be able to activate? i thinking yes...

-snip-

Why wouldn't you want to attack the larger market?

I mean, isn't that going to get you more of a turn out?

Though really, what are these virus makers even attempting to do when they create viruses. I don't see how anyone can get joy out of ruining other people's things. I can see the whole stealing personal information part, but if they've got 20,000 or more credit cards coming in at once, I mean, what would you do with all of that? You'd only use a few at a time, and if you did that'd likely up your chances of being detected.

I never understood it. People make a virus that effects your computer, just for the hell of it. I think a better punishment for these guys would to be, when they're found (if they're ever found), use a government super computer to design a virus that no normal hacker can destroy, and then have it whipe those people's devices clean. Have it spread throughout the network so wifi devices and other computers in the house feel the sting too. Maybe it'll make them stop doing that to other people.

if you target mac users their will only be like 12 victims

MORAL OF STORY: Buy a mac.

They are superior and awesome and totally cool.
They cost alot, come with stupid programs, and they don't run exes or play most video games. But at least you can make some stuffty music and put it on stuffty iTunes and put it on your stuffty iPod so you can act cool while you walk over to Starbucks and pay 4 dollars for a cup of bitter disgusting coffee that would would cost 1 dollar at McDonald's. Macs are truly superior.

This is the line where you stop fighting and get back on topic.

Starbucks > McDonald's

Xoax line is too short

This is wrong, the trojans that associated with the pirated versions of iWork and photoshop are installed by the user.  You don't get viruses that install themselves by simply visiting a site on mac.

Mac's can still get viruses too you know.

Know they cant because I said World pease!
