Author Topic: April fools day virus?  (Read 7889 times)

Mac's can still get viruses too you know.
That is what we're talking about.  There are very few viruses for macs, and they have to be installed by the computer operator, highly unlike anything on windows machines.

This is wrong, the trojans that associated with the pirated versions of iWork and photoshop are installed by the user.  You don't get viruses that install themselves by simply visiting a site on mac.

I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. I read your post as talking about PCs, and that is what I was referring to. If you're talking about mcas, fine, whatever, you are right.

Know they cant because I said World pease!

*ssssssssssssssssssiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh*

I'm reluctant to really take this seriously, but I'm going to back up my stuff on a flash drive anyway.

pease
Definitions of pease on the Web:

  • Pease is a lunar impact crater that lies in the north-northwestern edge of the huge skirt of ejecta that surrounds the Mare Orientale impact basin ...

        www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pease_(crater)
  • form of pea, then later of peas

        www.en.wiktionary.org/wiki/pease

I can see the whole stealing personal information part, but if they've got 20,000 or more credit cards coming in at once, I mean, what would you do with all of that? You'd only use a few at a time, and if you did that'd likely up your chances of being detected.

They sell them off. Less risk of getting caught with them and you can't cancel cash.

Back on topic:
If a virus has sitting dormant in most peoples computers and is this well known about, don't you the people at the different anti-virus companies would be coming up with a way to combat it?

They already have. There isn't a huge risk for a residential computer where the owner will probably keep it reasonably up to date and might see the virus on the news and go run a virus scan. The risk is for big networks of academic and corporate computers, stuff that is on long update cycles. Coincidentally, these are the computers that all of your financial details are stored on.

More like conforgeter. I can't get rid of the damn thing. I had it in my Combat Arms file. Then it was in mah loving add-ons for Gmod.

I've heard people freaking out saying it will get onto the government computers and launch nukes. There are 3 things wrong with that statement:
1: I doubt the government will look at research
2: The government probably doesn't use Windows XP
3: They would have a lot of firewalls on the computers

Fick = forget.

It's called a computer crash, it happens to me sometimes and I don't have the virus. Either it over heats or it's trying to say "forget you."
