Team Fortress 2 Question

Ok, so I was thinking of buying the orange box(not sure for what system yet) and was wondering if there was any game system that you could maybe use a single player on TF2 or is it completely multiplayer. Please inform me.

Technically, the only single player mode allows you to view the default maps with developer commentary on how they designed certain things in the game and layouts, but it's not that fun. The entire game is based around the concept of multiplayer team deathmatching or team objectives.
