No, a great deal of HL2 games comes with G-Mod. All you need is a game that runs on the source engine. The popular ones are TF2, CS:S, And HL2 and/or the episodes.

OOOR, get TF2/CS:S and G-Mod. The half life stuff is prepackaged and the portal stuff can be downloaded. Except for the Portal gun. That has yet to be ported correctly to G-Mod.
