Better actually, I use Autodesk Inventor. All the features of regular CAD programs plus a great 3D implementation, parametric modeling, simple project management and even more complex plugins like stress brown townysis.

Have you asked your school yet? if they don't have it, they can arrange it through the Autodesk website. Not sure if they have to purchase a license first though.

I have not tried Inventor yet. The school does have a license so I am going to boot it up on a computer once the principal allows me to modify one of the computers to not be complete stuff. They do run AutoCAD but it is outdated. The next closest thing is AutoCAD 2009 but I will not get to use that till next year.
