Author Topic: Random ID Assignment?  (Read 4146 times)

I think this is a good idea. After you buy the game, a program would check IDs that were already given and randomly assign you an available one. It would be out of 25,000 or so numbers and Badspot could remove some such as 666 and 1337. Discuss and vote.

(And if we got to around 24,000 and are about to run out, the program could then reassign IDs out of 50,000 and the cycle could continue)

No thanks, screws lots of things up. I prefer knowing who is newer and who is not. (Not discrimination) Also I do not want to see someone with a BL_ID of 24,000 and we only have like 11,000 players...

i think we should be assigned letters.

i dont even have time to see how new that is

No dude, I like having my 121.

If he did add it, our current ones would probably be kept.

What? Why would we need random IDs at all? This has no meaning at all, IDs are needed to show how new you are to the game, anyway. Plus Badspot already blocked 666 and 1337, from what I heard. He doesn't need random ID assortment to remove specific numbers from being used.

This idea doesn't make any sense.

That doesn't either.

How do they not make sense? They make perfect sense, but they're not ideal for this situation.

This message doesn't make sense.

A lot of Add On scripts rely on a Blockland player's ID. If the ID's are randomized, many scripts could be damaged.

Why would this even be a necessity? Why would ID's be random? They're assigned accurately now, so it doesn't make sense to change that to a more ridiculous idea.

How would teh scripts be damaged? Only saved data would. Unless your making discriminating scripts.

If it were change it should be like a credit card number or something like...

That wouldn't be your Blockland key by any chance, would it? :3
