Author Topic: Blockland runs a lot slower on my computer than it should.  (Read 810 times)

I often get lag on my server on my usual computer, and I assumed it was natural. However, I'm using a different computer for the weekend, and I decided to start up a server. There was no lag at all. In fact, it ran quicker with about 10k bricks on it than my usual computer does with no bricks on it. I really want to make Blockland on my usual computer run like it does on this one, so what would I need to check to get it to run faster?

do you have tons of addons and massive maps??

do you have tons of addons and massive maps??

No. I have literally the same exact amount of add-ons on both computers (if not more on this one, as I may have picked up a few while browsing the forums today). I copied them onto a flash drive and brought them with me. I also have the same number of maps. I also don't think you know what you're talking about.

say that i dont know what im talking about if you want...but im just trying to help. When i started a server today,a kid who joined kept lagging out and saying when he comes back,my computer is like,20 years old.  so Mayber thats your comps problem?

My computer is rather old, but I'd really rather not get a new one. (Well, I'd LIKE to, but my parents won't spend the money, and I don't want to spend the money I have on one.)

Bump again. I only have another hour or so of access on this faster computer, so if I need to check anything here, it's now or 2 weeks from now.

Help me, please. I'm not looking forward to playing Blockland on my deathly slow computer for any long period of time.

Specs on both computers?

Specs on both computers?

How would I check? I'm running Windows XP on this one.

Get more memory sticks. I stole one of the ones that came with my dads computer. (His is really slow when it runs 2 or more programs now.)

See if anything is clogging up your system.  I.e for me I need to close firefox before I get on TF2 and such.
Also just in case: don't try to find and close a program called "System Idle Process" if you see its using a lot of CPU(this should be obvious but you never know)

Having physics turned on decreases fps (on my pc by around 30)

I had it on on both computers. I'm now back home, so I cannot check the other computer for a few weeks, but I'll check this one.

The only things that are using anything at all are: (That I can notice, they keep moving around as the numbers change)

System Idle Process (95-98) [Must be something important.]
Firefox.exe (about 8) [Obvious.]
services.exe (0-2) [Don't know what this is.]
svchost.exe (0-2) [This either.]
NintendoWFCReg... (0-2) [This is my Nintendo Wi-fi connector.]
