Author Topic: Team Fortress 2 headgear?  (Read 2948 times)

After installing TF2 on the XP computer one day, i noticed in the Character Info and Setup menu along with the Reset Stats and Weapon Inventory buttons, a new thing to the right of the character and the character's weapons called Headgear, so i'm all "WAT?"

On NerfNOW, a comic was posted about it

And one of the commenter's said

Please note that the helmet is a place holder word for the item. so the next tf2 update will give all the classes their own hat.

Notice in the image it says "Pyro's Helmet" along with other hats, could this mean we get to see the Pyro without headgear on (I highly doubt this), or by taking off the Pyro's helmet, will put on the Pyro's original headgear?

I'm quite curious to see what this is going to be, now :o

In other news, my topic's topic number is 66610, i am now afraid of my own topic

I wonder about this too. Maybe look it up on the VALVe site?

I may, when i get chance

That looks interesting for sure.

Latest update was preparing for future features, the backpack delete button has got to be the stupidest idea yet. Perma delete your weapons you can't get back... oh yeah totally going to do that.

Man that looks really intresting.
I hope there will be lots of custom headgears by public.

They are adding in random weapon generation/drops but you can only hold a limited amount. If you get something better then the weapons you have you may have to delete some to make space. That just means that you will not get an identical weapon to one you already have gotten. I don't know if you get a random sandvich item so I wouldn't suggest ever deleting any of the special ones like that. You only need deleting to make more room in the inventory once you fill it up with weapons you have acquired so don’t be stupid and delete any thing before they update and add in the new weapons.

So TF2 is now turning into an expediently MMO FPS inventory game, things just got stuff. If that does happen then people will be seriously pissed off, its perfectly a great game now so why the hell do they need to go adding in random weapon drops... I better get ready for my /ragequit from the game if it does happen.

Major fail with the quoting there, and pretty much yes, I don't want WoW aspects in a bloody FPS.

:O I didnt even get a chance to buy it yet. Great, now im stuck playing an MMORPG FPS game as a replacement for tf2 D:

Hats: Cool

Everything else: please no

I hope the Pyro gets a fireman's helmet :D

Why the hell does every one say this is WoW stuff? Randomly placed and generated items comes back from the good old days of Rogue and rogue-like games. If you ask me all MMO's are just graphically enhanced over inflated lamer versions of pre existing rogue-likes. All this will update mean is that people who have poor aim will be able to find a random pistol that has a larger clip and firing speed but does less damage. Likewise if you are an amazing shot you could find a gun with less clip but the ability to do more damage. Every pro is balanced by a con so people won’t be able to get super cheap weapons. Basically every one can now (after playing enough to find the right weapon) enhance there own personal play styles to a more refined point were it can make a drastic change in the types of situations were they would be usefull. I personally think it will be great and unless you are a handicap and delete all of your weapons it will have no negative effects on you in any way.
