Author Topic: Mag: 256 player online FPS  (Read 3340 times)

So you thought that the PS3's extra cost for more power was useless right? Wrong. That extra power makes PS3 great for the best online FPS ever, Mag. This biggest online FPS match I ever played was 32 players, but that will change soon. In Mag, you there are two teams of 128 players, organized into 4 platoons with 32 players and that is organized into 4 squads with 8 players. There will also be a rank system so you can command over higher amounts of players as you get better. This will be the reason I buy a router for my PS3.

It's not going to be P2P or anything is it? If so I'm buying it.

Sounds twice as fun as the 120 player C&C Renegade server I was in. D:

Nope

* Packer drools

Sweet, though I reckon its going to be so laggy, not because of the graphics, the ammount of connections with other players is massive so I think we'll see people skipping around a lot. Also the lack of gameplay video and more of a Pre-animated video makes makes me wonder how good its going to be. 256 players = RTS game but you are the soldiers. I'm definitly buying no matter what though, I need more Playstation 3 games.

Anyone else noticed how the turret has the same vision as the Terminator?

graphics will probably blow

256 players on the same game = potential for 256 simultaneous explosion = potential for 256 less ping

graphics will probably blow
Its PS3, PS3 won't go out of date for like another 2-4 years.

I've seen a screenshot on the PS blog, it's amazing.

cant wait for some cigarette with a bad connection to crash servers

People still play that? I have it but I have never gotten to play a match of multiplayer.

Holy stuff this is awesome.

I read that they used a unique connection system that prevented a single player from lagging everyone else. They say that it runs over 30 fps no matter what happens (100 soldiers on screen or 35 tanks all getting exploded by RPGs at one time) and from screen shots, it looks like decent graphics.

When we all have T1 equivalent in our homes, there will be games that are just a war, with all the players online just, well, fighting.

A huge war with thousands of players...
