Author Topic: Rune Factory on the Wii, a good long wii game finally?  (Read 949 times)

It's called Rune Factory Frontier, it's basically Harvest Moon with dungeons and a stuffload more things you can do then in the current harvest moon out on the wii.

You do not need to play the first 2 DS games to play this, if anything it barely even accounts for what happened in those games, probably out of shame about how stupid the storylines in both games were.

The point of the game is get money, forget bitches, rule everything. You're a farmer and you start out with your own little hood and farm that's completely forgeted up (ala harvest moon). You tidy the place up to your liking and get around making some moolah whichever way you want. Eventually (rather quickly) you get access to dungeons filled with monsters which you can conquer. The game boasts things like marriage (ala harvest moon), being able to tame and take home monsters which are basically your traditional harvest moon animals, features a pet system where you can bring whichever monster with you on a tag team adventure, trades  like forging and cooking, as well a bunch of other events and things to keep you occupied to no end.

It is NOT a party game, but it's still very good nonetheless. I saw my sis play it while I was studying and, although it has allot of creepy anime stuff and whatnot (forget you Japan), the gameplay is solid and fun enough to get past all that. The gameplay is kind of like a dumbed-down action RPG with 3rd person overhead view.

Metacritic gives it a green flag and it might be the first solid game for the wii to actually keep people occupied beyond 20 hours.

If you like games like say Harvest Moon 64, get this game definitely. I can promise you won't be disappointed.

Also the game intro is loving weird, I know. Blame Japan.

I read this in  nintendo power, it looked pretty good. I heard you could get dragons, and each dragon can affect your skills in different ways?

You can tame dragons yes. Not sure about the specifics, the stat system is pretty deep.

Am there battling?

And is there any type of online thing where you can visit your friends place?

Playing it right now, forget this game Owns! There are no useless features at all in this game, all of them stand out as being important in many ways and it's actually hard to plan out your days because there's so much to do. I'll be busy for a while.

Crazy aussy releases :(

Yeah you can bring them into dungeons with you, they'll use all their attacks (and special attacks) as regular monsters would. Some monsters can also help you around the farm or give you produce (crazy cow monsters give milk). Taking a pet into dungeons is very advantageous in this game, since fighting is actually a challenge.

Also the enemy AI is pretty crazy in this game. Monsters actually draw back, come back in but circle you or do some other tactics to throw you off and stuff. It's hard to tell what they're planning.

Gonna give myself a good break before going back into my projects for a while.

Also, the game is pretty funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fjyjlg4qzhE

Bump because this game...

It owns so hard...

My brother was talking about a game that was Harvest Moon with dungeons, this was probably what he was playing. He loving loves Harvest Moon. He plays every release to death.

I usually watch him play RPGs and make lewd comments in the background. It's a gimme when dealing with games from Japan.

This game literally makes fun of itself sometimes and he'd definitely like it just for the things you can do. There's so much content in this game and everything is worth it, like I just tamed a loving castle robot thing that turns into a tank and shoots fireballs at things. It would only be more awesome if you could ride around on it. I wish I could have called him Optimus prime.

The game puts all other harvest moon games save the N64 one to shame. It improves hugely off of the DS versions

the opening is cool

jazz anime opening songs might not be your forte, though-

also, this looks MUCH better then the DS version

which means dammit i have to buy this

-loving crazy stuff about battling monsters pets and AI-

Wow. Sounds like an amazing RPG game.

/darkfall obsession

The AI thing sounds like darkfall, enemies draw back when hurt and resort to long ranged weapons

my god this game is awesome

it's like dark cloud 2 + harvest moon

winning combination GET!
