Author Topic: The Turbo Button? - An inquiry about my little sister's new old computer.  (Read 2361 times)

Well, some people from my step-dad's work or something gave my little sister a new computer.
My god the thing is ancient, so I hook it up.
Upon starting, I'm introduced to the Windows 95 loading screen.
Yeah yeah yeah, I check out some things, and it only has 16 MB of RAM.
But that's not the question. I've noticed a Turbo button on the tower, and when I press it, the display changes to say 133.
What does this turbo button do?

changes the display to 133 :P

It kills 10 babies in africa

boost of power maybe?

Timewarps you to 1892 for 133 picoseconds.

i know ctrl+alt+(+) and ctrl+alt+(-) turn it on and off.
i think it just clocked the CPU up and down for games in the day.
also allotted memory differently for them.
not really needed on win2000+

i dunno wtf 133 means. 133hertz?
:p

I have seen a PC like that to. My friend has old PC's and servers at his house and I saw one with a "turbo" button as well I wondered what it did.

Holy crap.

I have 133 messages in my PM inbox.

Coincidence?

I have a game paddle with a turbo button. When you press it it stops the other buttons from working until its hit again

EDIT: Found out

Bisjac got it right. It's the CPU clock and 133 is really slow. My PSP runs at 333.

i want a turbo button just to look cool lol

Turbo buttons are awesomeness.
