If you have Windows, you will already have Notepad on your computer.

I always used to get annoyed as hell when people said "If you haven't figured it out by now, you'll never be able to mod."

But it's true. To start, try looking at other add-ons. Weapons are the easiest. Try the Gun. Edit a few things and test it out in-game. Once you do that, I'll tell you some more about making an add-on.

The best thing for beginners is to look at existing add-ons and either edit them, change them, or just use them as an idea. Make sure you don't release edits of City Rp because you ~~might~~ will get flamed.

okay, but how do you look at the code for the add ons and mods? Wait, don't answer the first question yet until I reply.

ok, now you can answer the first question... I had to try to find out how to find the code... I didn't find it. so you save the mod you make as the name you want it to be and save it in the add on folder right?
(sorry for all the questions! really I'm just so confused.)

It really depends what type of mod you're making.

oh, well if you are making an add-on you will save it in the add-ons folder? same with the vehicle... right? Oh, and also, I checked out the coding and help page.

You probably are opening the zip with notepad. Go under add-ons and fidn the weapon_gun zip. Copy and paste it to desktop and extract it be right clicking the zip. Then open it up and click on server.cs top open with notepad.
