Author Topic: Guitar puts me to sleep.  (Read 1738 times)

Well, I love playing guitar more than most other things. It's rewarding and relaxing...  maybe too relaxing. Every once and a while, I'll be practicing alone for something important (usually a gig) and I need the time to practice. I start off strong, and although I don't lose my will or motivation, I end up falling asleep. I've woken up many times with my guitar in my lap feeling like a failure. Am I alone here?

tl;dr: zzzzzzz

As long as you dont fall asleep while on stage it's not that bad.

I'm pumped on stage.

I close my eyes and rest my head on the guitar when I play.

That is probably not what he should do, if you were trying to give advice.

I've fallen asleep a few times while playing, it's really relaxing.

I tried sleeping and playing Guitar Hero at the same time...

No dice.

Reading puts me to sleep. Guitar only gets me in the mood for sleep.

Depends, what kind of guitar music?

From classical to metal. Genre doesn't matter. It's only when I practice for an hour or so alone.

i usually wake up more when i play the guitar, i mean im usually practicing solos alone, so i guess i have the need to entertain myself.

I have never experienced this phenomenon.

I once woke up and started playing Guitar Hero at Jirue's house, I almost fell asleep, does that count?  I was up all night. (He was in another room, FYI.)To reduce any awkward comments.

Guitar hero doesn't count, sorry.
I feel relaxed when I play, but I never fall asleep, no matter the genre.

Play something (If possible) that would be impossible to sleep to before practicing, or do something that wakes you up imediatly.

Which reminds me, Computers and TV's make meh sleepy.
