Author Topic: The biggest heist of all: TOB team releases Blockland under GPL license  (Read 17209 times)

I guess it depends on playstyles.
I prefer a solitary build experience, as I can make my builds just right, IMO, so three players who don't bug me is still a crowd. I practically always build alone anyhow and chat over IRC rather than in groups.

Alright, i'll provide an example.

I am unsure if I could build this with others.
It requires repetition on both sides and many repeating motifs as well as fine adjustments which is why I prefer doing them alone, then showing others.

You do understand that changing the title name gets on Baddy's tits, and he's not hesitant to deal out bans these days.

Well, the original topic is not what I was discussing, so I reckon its justified.
Besides, its Drama. Who reads it with serious intentions?

me when im tired

There is a lot of "Player X did Y and I am Z!!!11", and that is somewhat offputting when you aren't tired, know-what-I-mean? So, you read the section devoted to some-people-complaining when you are tired?
Trying to ditch sleeping pills for a natural alternative?

(Mind you, I think the whole "Player X banededd me!!11" thread type appears in any forum about a game with a ban feature.)

im not now so im not taking you seriusly

Ace

I mean the Golden Gate Bridge huge.
Already been done here, by the way.

2000 bricks don't feel like multiplayer.
we have many servers with full out cities. being worked on by 6 people at any 1 time.

i remember playing tons on old blockland, i wouldn't even want to be in a server with more then 3 people. it felt like you were sharing that very limited bricks, and 3 people would hit 3000 bricks in an hour, and the game was no longer capable of playing on.
with a small build to show for it -.-

to hell with rotating bricks, its not worth it. i play internet games to fully enjoy playing with others. your old blockland hits its peak way to quickly
Actually no >_< You can scale bricks to resize them, you can make a huge wall in 1 second, but in Retail will take some time...

So I'm guessing you need a really incredible computer to play that on v0002's engine, right?

Well would you rather have just one giant brick for a wall or actual detail?

Already been done here, by the way.
And more detailed probably too.

This community is pathetic,
Says the leader of the team that STOLE from this community.

1. Nope, it runs ok in my computer, and its really laggy.
2. Nope too, with the scaler and editor staff you can have more possibilities.
3. He didnt say that they build the Golden Gate bridge, he just say that the huge of size as the Golden Gate bridge.

You do realize that that's a contradiction, right?

...to make things look like stuff. There's a reason it was there: Because V0002 couldn't handle high brick counts, so scaling was necessary.

No, because it's filled with horrible stretched bricks that don't have their texture LOD accurately changed along with the brick size so if you move even 2 units away from it the textures turn super blurry.

You can see some ugly LOD artifacts on the main building.

Overall, it's about the quality I would expect from Microsoft Flight Simulator. Make this crap in Torque Constructor, it would look a lot better and this particular build is more appropriate as a map then a build.

I mean, sure, you can make some pretty cool stuff, but why make it in a program that is just going to make your model look like something the History Channel would have featured in a 1998 documentary? That's the problem with the editor wand - it takes something that functions great at making beautiful Lego style models and turns it into the stufftiest modeling program ever made in the history of CAD.

PS: The colonnade is 4 columns deep and open to the exterior. I'm assuming you omitted this because your game can't handle that number of bricks.
