I sure hope Notch adds dragons.

They could spawn in the occasional gigantic cavern. It would also be cool if they were guarding very large veins of diamonds. In this case, they would have to be very difficult to kill, and possibly only be vulnerable a sword made out of gold or something.

Nobody mines gold, it's worthless. I wouldn't waste my time mining gold just to kill a dragon for diamonds I could dig around behind them for.
