Also, is it possible for a portal to randomly appear?

I have a weird anomaly here. I built 1 portal under my house, then the generated one appeared in the Nether. Recently I found a 2nd portal in my world, I hadn't created it, but it was there and already open. I went through it, and it brought me to my portal in the Nether, went through the Nether portal again, and it brought me to my built portal under my house.
