I'm a bit disappointed in the update, other than the bug fixes. Beta updates should be purely bug fixes, so you can release the game without worrying about patching it. Otherwise, yay, 1.6. What's new that's good? Because I already have mini-map mod and tall grass is meh.

No no no, Nether portals to go from the real world to the nether and back worked in singleplayer perfectly.  However, in SMP, you could only have the real world or the Nether, not both using portals.  You had to get mods to enable Nether travel in SMP, and 100% of the time they were broken and awful.
