Problem with most servers;

1) You spawn in a huge town with next to no resources
2) Factions
3) Too many rules
4) Stupid admins
5) Lag

2) Factions ruins the survival aspect of the game, theres no fun in walkign around a pre-made castle for no reason -- YEP

I want a server like 2b2t except where once you are killed by another player you get banned/can't rejoin. You can still die safely from mobs, lava, fall damage and all that though. People would actually forge alliances and work together to survive since knowing randomly attacking someone is a very dangerous idea. Plus it'd keep out trolls because players would team up and kill them.
