1. Right-click minecraft.jar

2. Choose "Open With"

3. Choose "WinRAR archiver" or "Choose Default Program..." and select Winrar

There is no Open With

there's just Open

Wait, so you want to me to right click the minecraft.jar in the minecraft bin folder and hit "Open", correct?

Because I can't add anything when I'm in the winrar folder thing
no
open with winrar/7zip/winzip/archive manager

There is no Open With

there's just Open

What operating system are you using?

Oh jesus christ

Select the files in the mod archive and drag them into the minecraft archive

you clearly forgeted something up in winRAR because with a clean install of it I can put files in a .jar fine

What.

What operating system are you using?

Oh, forget you, Open With

you sneaky forgeter

Okay, I dragged it into the .jar, I opened up minecraft, pressed E, then O, and now I'm getting jack stuff

What did you install

Does it require ModLoader

Everything I make with redstone shorts out for some reason :c

What did you install

Does it require ModLoader

Too Many Items

TMI is like the easiest mod to install. Here's what I do, it doesn't require winzip or any other program.

>Download TMI.
>Unzip TMI.zip. I have problems moving files from a .zip to another .zip, may be the same for you.
>Change Minecraft.jar to a .zip.
>Copy and paste all the TMI files into Minecraft.zip.
>Delete META-INF.
>Change Minecraft.zip back to a .jar.

Should work perfectly. Winzip and all other archivers are not needed imo, it just complicates things.

Why are there two minecraft.jars

one is called minecraft-1.2.4, where I found the META-INF, and then there's just minecraft

also how the forget do I unzip
