Happy Birthday Rene Auberjonois!

more importantly for me, this means it will be easier to replace the block on either side of a stair

are there any good texture packs that support the new snapshot?

why would someone make texture packs for the snapshots?
I mean, I'm not saying that they don't. I just don't know why anyone would.

Why wouldn't you? http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum/41-texture-packs/ There are quite a few texture packs that are updated to fit the snapshots. It's so, surprise surprise, people will still use their packs.

treating snapshots like an update, and getting each one when it's released seems pretty dumb to me, so I don't understand why texture artists would do it for their packs
they're neat for trying out what things you might see in the next update
but they're bound to be really buggy and unreliable, so I don't see why anyone would use a snapshot for continued use

I don't use snapshots, so yeah I understand your reasoning there. But if I was a texture artist and each snapshot added no more than five or so textures, I'd gladly spend a few minutes updating my pack so people still use it.

if I had a texture pack, I guess I would, as long as a bunch of new bricks weren't made
I just don't know if I'd go through the trouble of actually updating the thread for it

didn't all these prereleases and snapshots originate from when some guy leaked an update early?
or was that just coincidence

I think so. Wasn't it like 1.8 that had an early version leaked? Then Jens just decided to start doing the prereleases, which evolved into snapshots.

The power of disobedience.

personally I preferred when they would just post images and hints towards everything

Me too. It really built up the anticipation and in the end the updates were a lot funner. That's why I don't play any snapshots. :D

before it was
a dev: sneak peak at new thing ;) *vague image*
player: oh boy i hope its a puppy!

now its
a dev: new snapshot *link*
player: OH MY GOD WHEN YOURe MINING YOU CAN FIND BOTTLES OF PURPLE DUST AND THE PURPLE DUST MAKES RANDOM THINGS HAPPEN
POSSIBLE EFFECTS: DEATH, LIFE, JUMPING, EXPLODING
ALSO THE ENDING WAS CHANGED *picture of the new ending*

at least now they won't add anything we don't like.

"SUPER SPECIAL SURPRISE IN NEXT UPDATE GUIZ!"
*they replaces all the grass with soulsand and put grass in the nether.

Everyone, store your wooden slabs. All of them. I hear the already-crafted ones will remain "stone", and you'll need that for fireplaces.

The oak wood slabs are still 'stone' in the most recent snapshot, all the new slabs are wood.
