He says he didn't know there was a mod that does this, but the code to do this was very simple. Just used a hook for held items and that made them 3D. Made them spin like any block. This will only appear on Fancy graphics.

Think of it like this - They hired modders. Don't think of him as Mojang staff - think of him as a portal for simple cool changes people have wanted to get in. While it isn't productive and that sucks to stuff, at least the little nice changes are coming around. Don't give them hard feelings.

He actually announced something else: The new texture format will be in Minecraft 1.5. Textures will be changed, but be much more compatible, native support for high definition textures, texture animations, etc. AKA they are breaking all old texture packs but you don't need mods to do this stuff anymore.

I honestly really like it I know it doesn't add to the game but I kinda really want that.

any private bl server dies after a week because of very few players or the host doesn't want to host anymore
