Probably the best freeware quake-like game. It's got it all;

Awesome graphics, tons of blood and some gore, 3 different player models, 7 weapons, about 10 gamemodes, about 50 different maps, and it even has a alien-mob-survival gamemode.

But best of all, it has a coop edit gamemode. You can literally make quality maps with the built in map editor.

Also you could try out Cube 1, or Assault Cube.

Cube 1 is the original game that started it all, Assault Cube is a 'realism' mod to Cube 1 that was made into a standalone game. It includes realistic weapons along with gory deaths via the knife.

I loved this game, especially crossbow instagibs. However it no longer runs on my computer without crashing it , right after it finishes loading :<

anyways... it had a great update, it now has physics on death and new player model for Ironsnout, and some new maps. new weapon models too! i go play now, someone create server my name is RIOT

Let's see...

stuffty default mouse sensitivity, no way of turning it up, textures become jpeg-quality up close, gay sounds and models, stuffty editor mode button, and a ballsacked menu.

If you ENJOY playing this, you're a dumbass and will be until you realize how stuffty this thing is and how much of a loving miserable excuse for an engine it is.
