My 2nd-3rd gen Xbox has lasted 1-2 years so far, with no hints of instability.

I keep it horizontal and I don't keep it on unless I'm actually using it.

I had it, microsoft repaired it and I got a month LIVE for free.

Well, Whenever my dad's gets RROD we yell " Norris " and whack it then restart turning it on. That, ALWAYS works.

Only time I've had it was small random booting problems that never really effected the box as a whole. Just had to shut it off and reboot. Still works just fine for me.

Every year, mine breaks the day after christmas. Best Buy is better than Walmart, and we get it repaired and get a free month of live. It's never gotten the RROD though. One time the header came off. We got 50$ back when it broke after 360 prices went down :D

It's not. Like I said, I've had mine since the release units. Most instability is user error. I take very good care of mine and never have trouble.
