Author Topic: Custom Vehicles  (Read 4198 times)

Would it be possible to make it so that you go into an edit mode (like in banjo kazooie nuts and bolts). And then whatever you built onto that baseplate, turned into one brick (like the props, I guess). Then make it so its "fakekilled" but doesn't respawn unless you tell it to (I.e. Special edited vehicle spawn brick), and make it collide and have raycasting. Please don't flame this too much. I know near nothing about that scripty-torque-c++ stuff...

It is possible. If you make a baseplate on wheels then make a whole new set of movable bricks that can't be created on the ground and make a "freefall zone grid" where the bricks will be like the vehicles themselves then make that "freefall zone grid" moveable itself to stay attached to the baseplate and wheels.

You sir are brilliant i like it but we must attempt it!

OR, make a vehicle be able to mount brick models. SOmeone makes a "Buildable vehicles pack" which contains the vehicle base and brick models. THere would be a GUI for placing the bricks on the vehicle.

Something like this you mean?

Is that a new vehicle? or is it custom bricks/props?

It's a real vehicle.

What the forget are you babbling about?

This is the main issue with this topic.

I have an Idea.
How about you get a tire brick and have a script say when 4 wheels are touching one base plate it can drive.
For the steering system you could have it be like a 4x4 box and when you walk in it sets you in a driving postion like when you jump into a vechice. Driving should be able to be evented like in scratch...some day.

fxDTSBricks aren't meant to be mounted on anything, simply created and stay static aligned on a grid occupying a certain amount of space.  Your best bet would be to learn to model and do it yourself.

I understand the nodes post. You'd jsut have a vehicle base like that one, and have a bunch of like, 1x1's or something modeled on it, then just make something to hide the nodes of the ones you don't want there.

It wouldn't be building on the vehicle, but it would look like it, and would be customizable. And very possible also.

No, seriously, you cant' use this excuse.

Its not going to happen. That bull stuff they spoon-feed you about "NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE IF YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO IT" is a load of crap.

Thats what you get for watching disney channel.

OFF TOPIC:HAHAHAHAHA lawlz

On/off topic:I know the if you put mind into it nuthin impossible I DIDNT MEAN THAHT

i meant that with a lot of work and scripting it can be made to make the brick grids move

owait thats putting your mind into it-BUT I NEVER SAId THAT

There aren't any server-side physics on bricks, are there? It sounds like a lot would need changed so that people could build vehicles from bricks.. and the result would be very Robloxian.
