[Ripped from wiki]
Section 8 is a first person shooter set in a futuristic universe. The players wear futuristic armor that covers their entire bodies and features shielding technology which is able to absorb enemy damage.
Players will be able to “burn-in” by dropping onto the battlefield from orbital dropships hovering at 15,000 feet from the surface, thus eliminating fixed spawn points. “Burning-in” also creates the opportunity for the player to choose where they drop on the map, making the game unpredictable. This process is an interactive experience as players can be shot down upon entry by players and anti-aircraft turrets alike, though these situations can be avoided or mitigated by using the “air-brake” feature which allows the player to make mid-air adjustments.
It sounds and sort of looks like any other futuristic FPS but, it is somewhat fun. I'll be uploading videos from the multilplayer beta as I continue to play it.
Impressions so far: It feels sort of like Halo mixed with battlefield. There's only one game type so far but it's more than just a simple deathmatch. I'm not sure if it has an exact name but, it's pretty much two teams competing against each other in an objective based gamemode. Objectives range from protecting a convoy to delivering Intel/explosives. There are 5(?) default classes that are just standard stuff(Assault/Sniper/Ect) but, you can also create your own class. Within classes are two special items and two weapons. You can have two of any type of weapons, for example you could use a sniper and a shotgun at the same time. Special item's are what you would expect from most FPS - Knife, Explosives, Health Kit, Ect. There's also a buying system which allows you to call in deployables or vehicles, deployables are mostly turrets but, some are also health or supply stations. Vehicles are standard amongst FPS(Plane, Tank, Ect.) The game is fun but, the maps are somewhat dull and there's too much going on at once sometimes.
Final Verdict: Game's something fun to pick up and put down after a few minutes, it's not really worth buying.
