Author Topic: Milkshape face problem?  (Read 3981 times)

So when I got MilkShape, I read the online help/tutorials.  They said that creating a face counter-clockwise makes it "visible" (a.k.a not black). Clockwise makes the opposite side "visible."  Here is my problem;  I create faces correctly and they seem fine.  Later, after flat-shading or doing anything with verticles and duplicating,  the faces "visible" side reverses.  Does this matter?  Will it change the way the model looks in-game?  If so, how do I change it back?

All help will be greatly appreciated.

Try changing the shading type for the 3d view.  This should happen, I think.

On your windows right click and turn off Draw backfaces.

ok, I'll try that

EDIT: Turning off draw backfaces caused the black to disappear along with some other faces.  Does that mean those faces were never there?

Nm, the faces are there.  Is there any way to reverse their side (from a backface to a frontface)?

This is a clarification of the original question.

Here's some pics:

This one is with backfaces on.

This one is with backfaces off.

See how some faces disappeared?  They're still there but not shown.

Key question:  I want to make those invisible/black faces into visible/grey faces. How?

Milk shape isn't the only thing that has face problems hehehe.....

I'm sorry, that joke sucked.

They aren't showing because they aren't facing the right way, turning draw back faces shows you what the export version will look like (More or less). If you goto Tools/Selection something its a 3D selection window, navigate inside the model and look at where the faces aren't showing, you should see them in the insides, select them and hit save then press Ctrl+F. That should flip them the right way.

I knew this, see above.

select them and hit save then press Ctrl+F. That should flip them the right way.
Trying now

EDIT: Fixed, thanks to Packer.  The shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+F on my computer though.  XD
