ClansClans can be great. If you look at my clan, you see all characteristics you'd find in a clan you want to join.
- Hugely active
- Productive
- Friendly Environment
- Well-Rounded skills
- Skilled members
When I ask friends who come to our servers if they'd like to app, or friends I just see in other servers. Or people I just met that are pleasant and skilled, I get some of the same answers to why they don't join clans anymore.
- They were in a couple of poorly organized clans and decided to do away with clans entirely.
- They were in MotE or another prestigious clan. I'm not saying that's bad, I'm saying after you join MotE or USSR, which has skilled members and is well organized, how can you go back to the clan's of today?
- They don't like the drama of clans. I know this, I've been in BiT and Vony (Really bad mix) at the same time a while back. Also, there was that drama between Vony and TomCorp (iEvent now) when I was in TomCorp. It's a pain in the ass.
I really have to hand it to Randomguy, he got it right.
This is the reason NWB is so popular. It's organized, skilled, friendly, the owner is experienced, and drama-free. It's what a building clan should be.
A long time ago, I made a huge clan thread guide on RTB
http://forum.returntoblockland.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=72If I really thought it would be effective here, I'd post it on these forums. But I really don't think it'd make a difference.
The reason I made The Craftsmen in the first place is because I wanted skilled players to be able to get together and make some really, really, really cool stuff. Think about it. Here are the characteristics of your average semi-successful clan today.
- Alot of members
- Semi-Popular owner
- Never makes any clan projects whatsoever.
It's true, you can look at
ANY clan that isn't The Craftsmen or NWB (Sorry if I missed you) and see they never make anything at all. I mean clan projects. A computer that one member made does not count as a clan wide project, it's an individual's project. Now you might say "Spock, I don't see any projects made by The Craftsmen in the gallery.".
It's true we haven't finished anything, but we are most certainly busy. Ask any active member and they'll tell you we are working our asses off on Zombie Survival.
I'm sick of most clans these days. I've been in every semi-popular event clan to date (iEvent, Vony, Blockintosh, Microblock) and I can tell you that every single one of them has never made a clan-wide eventing project. Ever. Sure a member or two made a computer, but only on their own.
Discuss.
