Author Topic: First Add-On, should I post?  (Read 3313 times)

And here is the second, smaller set of pictures, 2 this time.

EDIT: Please keep in mind, the model is definitely not finished yet, so don't judge it quite yet. I basically just uploaded these as a preview. The model still sucks, and it will be 10 times better when completed.

the first image looks fugly,
the 2-4 look too realistic for play in blockland.
#5 looks like it has about 5000 polys or something.
the last one looks fugly

Firstly, yeah, I was afraid of the whole "too-realistic-for-Blockland" thing. We will tone down the reality of it.

Secondly, the 5th picture does not have 5,000 polys, we were just trying to be complete, but I see we may have gone a little overboard.

Thirdly, they are "fugly" now, but, as I said, they will look 10 times better when finished.

just giving my honest opinion.  its better than anything i could ever do, so i shouldnt be judging :|
anyway, if that is your first add on/model, its great!
oh and btw:

I know :P

And thank you very much for the compliments, they are much appreciated.

And the add-on's only gonna get better from here.

congrats then.  i should really learn to model.  looks interesting.

lol I download Milkshape 3d yesteday and Oh Gawd What did i get myself into? I feel like I'm in way over my head so I am taking my time.
the model is good IMO but the texture looks pretty bad

Yeah, MilkShape can be slightly overwhelming at first, especially if you don't have any skill with modeling.

Thanks for the compliment, and yes, I'm fully aware that the texture is not of good quality at this point, but don't worry, we are working on that. We're going to estimate a completion date for the add-on soon, and I will post it here. It shouldn't be too much longer... Hopefully...

I know, I know, I shouldn't post my first Add-On. But, after long discussion between myself and my friend who is helping with it, we have come to the conclusion that we should post it. But, I still want others' opinions.

General stuff:
-Not quite a simple gun edit, we are making a brand new model from scratch
-Has some potential to be pretty useful
-Model will be very good, but don't judge, it's our first model (but we think it's pretty dang good)
-Has not yet been made (yes, I've searched the forums many times)

I don't really want to disclose what, exactly, it is out of concern that another, more advanced Add-On maker will take my idea, but if disclosure is requested strongly enough, I will most likely reveal what it is.
yeah post it man

Do want toolgun. Now. command to use will be /toolgun.

poly count plz, looks good though, down the realism tho. Check out this for refrence to the poly count (around 800 polys)

Why does it look so real? What program do you use?
