It wasn't broken or messed up, it's just that playback was god awful and the .rec files were not used by standard video players.

In short its pointless. You'd be better off making a stuffty movie with FRAPS, leaving the GUI up and all that jazz.

Fraps is probably a better choice. Just change the hot keys to F3 and F4. Also, there is a camera item that removes the GUI...

Yeah, the Torque "demo" thing isn't even really a recording.  It's like a saved replay.  It just replays everything that happened.  For video recordings, use Fraps.
