Author Topic: Tf2 Lag.  (Read 5794 times)

Well, I lag on Tf2, and I don't know why. I meet the requirements and stuff, and when I play on a single player game (Create server with 1 person limit) The movement and everything in flawless. I only lag on online servers it's not like 30 fps lag, it's like 8 fps lag.

How can I go about raising my fps?

Edit: You can ask for system specs, but it may take a while to type.

Lower your texture quality. Texture quality has always been a killer for my friend's Graphics card. If it's too high it will lag.
Also, for even less lag, change your server filters for servers with >50 ping. Close servers only!
:D

Ping is not an issue. I have lowered the quality, maybe a slight differance.

Processor info please.

Okie dokie.

It lags like stuff on the 360.

Tiny bump. Just because edits don't bump topics.

Go to Games in steam and highlight TF2 Then go to the properties box and in enter a command line as shown

-dxlevel 81

This will increase your FPS by almost 2x. If you wish to delve into the pits of unshiny ubers, instead of 81, use 80. When you are done, start the game and let it load fully to the main menu. Close the game and delete the command line you entered. Then when you go to play the next time, edit your video prefs as you wish.

@kool

That is because it is a half assed port that should not have happened.

huh i have the same processor 2gb of ram windows vista DX10 and 232 gb of total space and i can run TF2 on full graphics. also this might help http://www.fpsbanana.com/tuts/6903

The underlined made the bold complete bullstuff. TF2 is CPU heavy but GPU light. It can deal with a stuff GPU but having an old ass CPU like that will not do you well.

Will my processor make Tf2 run very poorly?

Yes. just do the command or if you have another command, add a space before entering it.
