I did it. Now about my processor. How bad is it?

Its a SINGLE core 2.2 GHz. Thats pretty terrible.

How can I replace my cpu?

And how do I know which ones are compatible with my Motherboard?

No it's not. I've had that processor, and it's not bad in Source.

Generally you can find out by looking around in BIOS or the manual it came with.

Haha, manual. I bet it's been rotting in a dump for a while. Graphics, as in graphics card?

It's a Nvididia 9600 Geforce

Your CPU uses socket 939, which is kinda old. The best processor i could find that would fit in it would be a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Toledo for socket 939. Its a bit old and would probably be hard to find now. If you could manage to get one it is a dual 2.2 GHz processor, so it would greatly increase performance (in comparison to what you have now).

That is actually a pretty good card, but because you have such a terrible processor you are bottlenecking like mad. I now recomend you just get a new motherboard and processor.

Ugh. I have no money. Parents Never buy me anything. Except for my birthday and Christmas. On Birthday, they spend around 50 bucks, and for Christmas, maybe a hundred.

How much for a good processor and board to match?

Plus I would need to buy new Ram due to the fact this is DDR.

And I think I would need new wires, right?

This is going to be ALOT more pricey than I had thought.

And power supply.

Oh god, I just bought a new one for this board, UGH.

Never going to happen in a million years.

Ok well, if you just bought a new power supply for your graphics card (I assume), you shouldn't need another one. Yes you would need new ram, but not new "wires" because any decent motherboard that you buy nowadays has sata and IDE. If you could get about $150 that would be enough for a good CPU, motherboard and new ram.

Can you give me some links? Ram would be around 20 bucks for 1 gig. That means a processor and mother board to be 130 bucks. That sounds awfully cheap. Plus I have no knowledge of installing a motherboard. My uncle might, though.

$156.96

I'm not sure about shipping, if it's free or not.

Are you sure this will all work together?

I still don't know about the power supply. Do they work with every Board, or do some only work with specific kinds?

If your power supply is a 24 Pin then it should be fine. Also, check the maximum wattage for it.

Will do. With this should most games run smoothly?

ECS Elitegroup is an awfully cheap brand.

The motherboard is one of the things you don't want to cut corners on.

He would be better off with brands like Gigabyte, Asus, and Foxconn. I had some pretty bad experiences with MSI, so I wouldn't get one of those.

And if you were to get 2gb of RAM, you should get this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231098
