ECS Elitegroup is an awfully cheap brand.

The motherboard is one of the things you don't want to cut corners on.

He would be better off with this motherboard instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128383

-_- The other one has better reviews.

Will do. With this should most games run smoothly?
Yes you should be able to play just about any pc game that out today, even crysis ( although not on max+ assuming you have more then 1 gb ram).

And if you were to get 2gb of RAM, you should get this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231098
Go with this, its better.

Actually, nix the motherboard idea.

I just noticed it wasn't AM3-compatible.

But in other words, the Gigabyte board would have been better compared to the ECS one.

I'm looking for a compatible board now.

EDIT: He could go with this, but the problem is that there is no free shipping. So he may or may not be able to get it. It'd be worth it, though.

You guys can discuss the motherboards. I have no clue about them. I'll be checking for a final decision. If you ever come up with one.

I won't have 150 bucks for a long while, so don't worry about shipping.

The shipping would only be about $10.

I was looking in the reviews and a guy had this as his processor.

It seems like it's worth the extra cash.

Edit; About the casing.

I missed a lot. Also I don't think your processor may be bottlenecking it I don't know where the hell you get this stuff from Starcraft. I used to have almost an exact same rig like that, but 8600 and it ran source fine.

Tf2?

I wish I could afford a new computer.

Not TF2, but HL2. Ran on medium.

Yeah, exactly. I want to run Tf2. This cpu can run Hl2 on high.

If it can run HL2 on high then I don't see how it can't run TF2 at least on low.

Max out everything to the lowest. Resolution, field of view, textures, everything.
Then set it to DX level 8.

I could try resolution, but I doubt that will help. Tf2 requires much more than Hl2 does.

Processing. Everyone shooting everyone at the same time. At least that's what I think. I have an 8600gt and it obliterates TF2, without AA.

Anyway eli, if you're going to buy that Dual core, you may as well get this Quad core for 2 dollars more. All of the cores combined make 7.7 Ghz.

Plus it uses less power.
