Dxlevel screwing arounds don't fix everything, contrary to popular belief.

If this was the case, I'd be able to play TF2 at least on low on my laptop, which can play HL2 on high.

I am willing to spend some money, if I ever get it.

Anyways. There were several options of mother boards and whatnot, and I would like to be sure on which ones are compatible, and the ones I should buy.

Depends on the processor you want.

You can look on Newegg yourself and find one you like, and I'll see if I can find a decently-priced motherboard to go with it.

Pages two and three...

There are more than one choices on pages 2 and 3.

I would like it narrowed down best to price and what you get for it.

In other words, What would be the best decisions?

here's my problem, if anybody can fix it.

I can't join most TF2 servers, but I can join most servers when leeching off my friend's connection....it's almost like a wall of fire, and i can't jump over it, but when my friend neko is in tf2, he can help me get over

and steam told me to bypass my router....and i asked them what precautions to take to ensure the safety of my already existing connection.... and they kind of ignored me then.

I deviated from what has been already posted, but I think this is looking pretty good.

Motherboard
Processor
RAM

@Oromis, you can try to forward your Steam Client ports.

Build a ladder  :cookieMonster:

This is defiantly going to be a Christmas thing.

How well will games work If I get this stuff?

Pretty good if you can hook up your GPU to your motherboard. I would go with Nocturni's stuff. It is a great improvement for the price.

What's a Gpu?

Edit: Googled it, still have no clue.

Edit: Graphics card?

My machine is almost identical.

I have that 3ghz (6ghz total) AMD dual core you suggested, along with 2 gigs of ram and an 8600GT.

I get a steady 60 fps on high in TF2, even in heavy firefights, at 1440x900.

What's a Gpu?

Graphics Processing Unit, same thing as a Video card.

It should, It's recent. Pci-e 16x I think.

About the sound card.

Edit: Thanks for being so helpful, guys.
