I like that a little better.
It also incorporates some of the shield bot into it by providing a means of cover/escape.

Maybe at 25% health, it deploys a bubble shield that lasts for 5 seconds?

how about, when you deploy a bot, it's added to a "squad" (led by the player) that can only support up to 4 bots at a time: if any more bots are deployed, the oldest explodes doing damage to anything near it: from there, the squad acts alot like the half life squad system: usually, they just follow you, but if you need them to go somewhere, you would use something like a laser pointer to tell them to get their asses down there, attack that enemy, shoot that wall, etcetera

I like the idea of that better, I'll clarify that a whole squad does not have to be spawned at once.
And yeah, it would be great if you and Thorax would work together.

Edit:
Updated the OP for the Attack Bot idea, as well as a detail I was wondering about:  if Attack bots should be the only bot that allows duplicates, since it isn't very exploitable like the Medic/Ammo/Engineer Bot.

like, if you were to tag one of your attack bots with the laser pointer, it would switch attack patterns from "only if he's in plain sight" to "give chase" to "defend owner" then back to "only if he's in plain sight", or tagging a support bot would have it turn into a sentry gun (and back), or tagging a medic would shift it's healing focus from players to other bots

even better make it so the ammount of service bots can be choosen by the host so like if you want 100 bots then if the host wanted that youd have a party
