Author Topic: Will gmod 9 run?  (Read 1358 times)

I was wondering if it could run on a EEEPc 1000h XP notebook? And yes i do have GMOD 10 but thats for my other computer. My EEEPc 1000h XP netbook can run The sims 2. But not TF2.

if it cant run tf2 I doubt it

you're not supposed to play games on a netbook

Gmod 9 and Gmod 10 is pretty much the same things just that Gmod 10 has a little bit newer engine.

TF2 is pretty advanced, it needs a lot of RAM and processor power. HL2 doesn't have quite the same requirements, it's requirements are less. Garry's mod should work fine if HL2 works fine.

I think

No it will not. HL2 runs at about 5 FPS on the lowest graphics settings on that computer ( I have tried). GMod will run but it will be COMPLETELY unplayable.

What engine did Gmod 9 run on?

If the episode one engine and you can run HL2, probably.
If orange box engine, probably not.

EP1

of course it was made before EP1 so it's really using the HL2 engine

Source SDK calls it the Episode One engine. :P

Well yeah. There was no Episode 2 at the time, and that's why they're on Gmod 10 now, episode 2 engine.

Garry himself is actually stuck between staying on Gmod 10 and upgrading the engine to the newer Source in L4D, but he doesn't wanna up the requirements again :/

heres the tf2 uses diffrent graphics then other valve games it might be your graphics card
also it turns out all valve games that dont use the origional half life one engine use source

Yes, the TF2 uses a different version of the Source, but all Valve games run on Source, just different versions. L4D uses a separate newer version of Source. TF2 uses a different version of Source. All of them use Source but in one way or the other.

Even half life uses source, it's just gold.
