Author Topic: Darn it Coldplay!  (Read 3005 times)

Coldplay bugs me. It seems that they are trying to become the next U2. While if it was just happening naturally I wouldn't mind but it's like they are doing it purposefully with almost every song they release can be identified as a different take of a coldplay song. Etc etc.
What bugs me most about this though is I can't actually dislike them because they keep making cool stuff that makes me have to like them again such as: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXSovfzyx28&feature=fvw
xD
Ah wells.

My favorite song they ever made is Viva la vida.

I rather dislike that song actually to be honost. xD

hax.

Who are you and what did you do with the real ladios?

Coldplay is like Seal...all of their songs sound the same.

same, it just got stuck in my head. again.

It's sad to say but somehow true.

It was way too overplayed in my area. Even the station dedicated to classic rock played that song at least 3 times a day. Plus something about the tune kinda irked me. It's a decent song, but way overhyped in my opinion.

Almost all of them yes, but there are some exceptions.

My favorite coldplay songs are The Scientist (though it is depressing as hell), Clocks, Speed of sound, And now this Technicolor II thing. I used to like Violet Hill also but how long it takes the song to start with that like minute long sustained note at the beginning always pissed me off so I have grown to dislike the song xD
Note: I know Clocks and Speed of Sound are similar but that wont stop them from being some of my favorites.

I <3 Coldplay
:3

Lovers In Japan, Yellow, Viva La Vida, Speed Of Sound ( And It's remix ) are some of my favorite songs off the top of my head.

In the latest interview they did with 60 Minutes, the lead singer said that they were only so popular at the time because all of the U2 fans were flocking to them while U2 was on hiatus.  He called it "substitute teaching", and he himself is a big believer in giving the audience what they want.  That basically explains it all for you.

I do agree that some of their songs sound the same, but most of them don't.  The only ones that are really annoying is "Clocks" and "Speed of Sound".  Both of them are the same freakin' song, people.  If they had only chosen to make one version, I would've liked it for what it was, a brilliant piece of music.  But because they have two, I can't stand to listen to either of them.

And besides, U2 stopped being good around 1980.  If I was them, I wouldn't waste my time trying to copy the new U2.  Sure, Beautiful Day was a good song, but come on, they haven't had a good album since The Unforgettable Fire.

Ahah! My suspicions were correct! Anyways, I rather like U2's new song, "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight". I hate the title though. I wish they would just shorten it to something like "Crazy" or anything else. It's a wonderful song otherwise. xD

Ace

Coldplay is awesome. :D

Coldplay and Maroon 5 are the top 2 bands for most sucking. U2 is getting there...

My favorite song they ever made is Viva la vida.

It used to be okay until I heard it every five seconds thanks to the radio.

I like modern Coldplay. Come to think of it, they do remind me of U2.
