Author Topic: TF2 external idlers get stuff removed  (Read 19631 times)

Lets burry the hatchet.
The one I'm going to kill marcem with?
As I said before,
Valve mentioned they didn't praise it but weren't going to do anything about it.Walker's ambiguous e-mail leads us to believe it is not considered cheating.
They punished people who use the EXTERNAL IDLE PROGRAM, not IN-GAME IDLERS.
Idling isn't cheating.

My hatchet, get your own.

I think people are overreacting when they say its a lose lose. You can filter out tags like "idle" and look for maps beginning with "cp" and "ctf" and "pl" etc.

The only people who lose are those who want to idle, because it is now much harder to do so.

Valve is creating a better TF2, and they're keeping cheaters out. Also no replies to your post isn't exactly overwhelming positive response. I don't believe anyone has acknowledged a word you've said that isn't me and I don't exactly subscribe to your school of thought.

You don't need a warning. Cheating is cheating, even if the rule is unwritten.
YES.  THANK YOU.

I'm sorry yuki, I mean:
The e-mail to the creator of SourceOP's idler.
Drunken_f00l
He even stated he'd shut it down if VALVe gave him the word.

I still don't get why you guys idle.  It really takes away from part of the game.

Allow me to make an brown townogy.

This is like walking into a lion's den and saying, "Well, I don't think there's a lion here, so I can't get hurt." The lion comes out of the shadows and gives you a large gash in your arm. It'll heal eventually, but you'll still regret doubting the presence of that lion.

In TF2, you're using a program/server you're not 100% sure is okay to use, saying "Well, it should be okay to use, so I can't get hurt," and surprise! Valve leaves a gash in your backpack. You'll get the items back eventually, but you'll still regret idling.

This too. Are you guys even playing the game? Or are you just getting all the hats before quitting, just to say "I own everything"?

I did once on a temptation. Never did again. Didn't get a halo, lost no items.
Besides, how else do I snipe unsuspecting players thinking I'm in an all-out handicapped sniper war?

I agree with Justin. If you have to idle to get your items there's absolutely no point in even owning the game.

oh god lol.

People are now discussing Hat Achievements, which would meant to be much harder (but still possible of course) to earn a hat.
Also, now that valve announced that we get our weapons we got from achievements back tomorrow after a quick patch, that means I haven't actually lost anything, but I still regret idling.

Finally an brown townogy that makes sense in this thread.

Keep ignoring the "i idled while I slept because I can't play a game while I'm sleeping".

I can't wait until tomorrow, when everyone isn't as butthurt, so we can actually discuss something like this.  And yuki, you don't need to have a chance 24/7

Also, yuki, that first pic is epic.

You don't even own the game.

I can discuss it, still.  I don't require the game to talk about it.

Yes tomorrow,  but, it still irks me that people say they're going to stop buying from VALVe because of this. And all the whiners about L4D2 aren't making the Steam posts any better.
