Author Topic: Google Sketch up Model into a DTS?  (Read 2861 times)

I been makeing Models for blockland, yet i can't find a converter, anybody knows one i can use? or any thing i can do that can make it in to a DTS

This has been asked millions of times. I vote just switch programs while you can. Much easier to learn Blender or Milkshape instead of worrying about using a program which requires plugins just to make a low poly sphere.

In Blender, I couldn't figure out how to spawn a shape and the interface was horrible, and in MilkShape, you can't seem to edit shapes, so your models will probably have to be spheres, boxes, etc, or maybe it's just hidden in its godawful crowded menus.

I'd rather be using SketchUp or Anim8or than those.

Or maybe it is just that you picked up blender... and then gave up. Didn't read a tutorial or anything. Anim8or gives un needed polys which then when imported into milkshape, gives it even MORE polys. Sketchup requires plugins before you can even use it to make blockland stuff.

What is this "tutorial" you speak of?
I mean, seriously, all the "tutorials" I could find already showed half-finished models and didn't explain Blender whatsoever.

How did you even import Anim8or into MilkShape? I smell lies...

So does Blender. So, you're saying Blender's bad too, then?

Export .obj or .3ds then import

I never said either was bad

Sorry im late.

Here's how sketch up works kidz.
You make a model, Either export it to .3ds or .obj.
Then, bring it into a "post processing" editor. Like milkshape, or blender.

Add joints and such.

But! First you need the model out of sketch up?
So how the forget do you do that Pandan?
Either you buy sketch up like i did.
Or you cheat..

Well, Cheating then cheap ass.
1. Save as .kmz file. (google earth)
2. Rename .kmz to .zip.
3. Extract the file.
4. Start your favorite program that can import Collada 1.4 files. (FBX converter)
5. Import the .dae file found in the models folder you just unzipped.
6. Do whatever else you need to do and export normally.
