Sauerbraten is a fun Quake like game with great graphics for a freeware game. There isn't any gore, but there are ragdoll physics and a large amount of blood. It's available for free download for Windows, Mac, and Linux. There are a ton of maps and a large playerbase. You can choose what your character looks like out of 3 options, and there are many gamemodes, including Instagib, TDM, CTF, and DM. Plus you can have single player, with bot matches, and a handful of Campaign levels. There is a built in Map Editor too. :D

Download is about 30-40 minutes.

another quake thing?

please explain why this is better than every other quake-like fps

I don't know, a friend gave me a link and I liked it. I wasn't aware of any other Quake games.

I've played this before. I thought it was pretty neat.

I'm waiting for Chex to shoot this topic down, as he always does with Cube 2.

Yeah, I looked at the other Cube 2 topic, he was a big meanie. :(

I used to play this all the time.
I like the RPG mod too, that's fun.

I love Instagib, I play it all the time. Rifle is awesome.

DAMN YOU GOT ME.

Anywho, while the game looks impressive, the stuff-quality jpeg textures become noticeable when you look at them. The sounds are crap, the default fov is worse than Area 51's, the sensitivity didn't have a menu option the last time I played, the menu is loving balls, and it is just overall worse than E.T. for the Atari 2600.

The menu really doesn't affect the gameplay, the sounds are horrible yes, but the rest I don't really care about. It's a fun game and thats all that matters.

Except for the fact that you know what's going on, and you can play it.
