I was thinking about adding voting, but then I decided not to.
Hm, voting does sound cool though. Nevertheless i think RTB Will be epic, can't wait until the beta comes out.

The only thing I'm okay with players rating is add-on submissions. I'm never going to implement anything that lets them rate eachother or their servers because that is just asking for trouble.

Will RTBv4 maybe include a feature that will allow players to join servers through the friends list much like you can join a friend's game on Steam if the game supports Steam?

Fffff the RTB servers are down. Just when I had to get something :c

That's what the "Join" button does - although I've renamed it to "Play" in the latest version. There's also an indicator (again, in the latest version) to show what the player is doing, which will usually be one of the following:

  • Singleplayer
  • Hosting LAN
  • Hosting
  • Playing
  • Playing LAN

There's added intelligence to determine whether a LAN server a player is on is accessible from the internets and it will manage that accordingly.

Progress Update

I did some more testing with Wedge over the weekend and he seemed suitably happy with what we've got so far. There are a bunch of things to clean up and a few suggestions from Wedge to implement but then we're going to be into early beta which will focus primarily on server load testing and usability testing.

Wedge has written a very nice article on how to use the Trac system (which I mentioned earlier we'd be using for bug tracking for v4) which will be made available to testers.

When you put your cursor over it, could a small box come up saying what server name is, and how many bricks? Also if the person isn't at a server will the button be grayed out or something like that?

Whoa :o

I'm actually more excited for RTB4 than I was with RTB2 or 3.
