That'd be cool. Is the API feature gonna be used in RTB4? I hope so.

What'd I miss?

What's this about RTB API.

Holeh crap friends list?
Hey Ephialtes, when's V4 gonna be done? I can't wait. Do you think you could get it done by New Years Day?

Oh, and id like to see in rtb4, the ability to submit add ons in the mod manager!

How about some new irc sounds? Like when you get a pm while its closed. That little beep is getting annoying, and sometimes i don't hear it.

A spam warning system, something like this, if someone was pming you:
spambot: spam
spambot: spam
spambot: spam
spambot: spam
spambot: spam
<Notice: This person is spamming you, temporarily block them?>

Then you'd type /y or /n

Options in making a new friends group, like:
  • Able to Spam your pm?
  • Able to start a chatroom including you?
  • Able to invite you to a chatroom?

At some point around RTB4 I will be allowing users public access to RTB's RESTful API. This would allow them to use the api in order to grab details on add-ons/players/servers for their own websites or add-ons. The response format is either going to be delimited plaintext, XML or JSON. I haven't decided yet - it relies on the number of people planning to use this.

Access will be based on API credits, you'll get X credits per day and each request will cost 1 credit (although large requests requiring lots of processing may cost 2). The number of credits you get per day will be adjusted to suit a standard average-use service.

@Evar678: IRC will be gone as of RTB v4, so I won't be fixing bugs or implementing new features at this stage.

Awesome! That'd be useful for having putting stuff on my site about my servers, and who's in it and such. I can't wait.

You're deleting irc?

It'd most likely still "exist" but would only be activated if the RTB Server was down or something, so people could then talk within the IRC until it was back up. Ideally I'd like to get rid of it completely since nobody really spoke in it and it was primarily used for the private messaging (for which there will be a new feature in RTB4).

RTB Credits Buy Now!

I know it's not like that.
but, sounds interesting :o

@Ephialtes
Well maybe you could implement those features into the messenger thing?

I think you should use XML, because most people find it much easier to use out of the 3

And also, when do you think RTB4 Will be done? Is it possible that it will be done before or on New Years Day?

And yay the modification forum is still there for rtb users!

I will use whatever is most appropriate. If people want to use the API they may have to learn a few more things about whatever language they choose to use. XML uses up a lot more bandwidth than JSON or plaintext for example. RTB4 has no time for completion, rest assured that it will not be done in 3 days.

There are no plans to monetise RTB. That being said, if anyone wants to give me money in the hopes that they'll get a bigger API quota, that's cool.

Another quick question, is most of the stuff for RTB in the zip or in the website? For when you connect to mod manager, is all of the comment posting done in the zip or using php to connect to blockland?

Are you looking for some particular code for some reason?

I haven't decided yet - it relies on the number of people planning to use this.
I might give it a shot.
I'd need to learn some more about it first before I go blowing all my credits.
