You do know that it dangerous to be on the computer when there is thunder and lightening? If lightening strikes a power line or something, it can send a surge and destroy your computer, or even worse.

I always have a Back-UPS system set up with my computer, so that if the power does go out, I can safely shut down my computer. :D

Very good idea. I wish I could have that, but I have a surge protector so that if some surge does ever occur, it is unlikely to damage my computer.
But that's no use when the TV has exploded because of the same surge and the house has burnt down because of it XD

One of my brothers friends houses got struck by lightning. The only thing that was plugged in that survived was his Game Boy.

I like to run around in the rain, I love the feeling of cold water and just plain being cold. If I had to choose desert for 1 day or the tip of a mountain for 1 day I would totally choose mountain.

KILL YOU!
Sorry for double post.

If you do get a surge from lightning powering through the electrics, you won't be in any trouble if you have a new Surge-protected extension cord with multiple outlets because the extension cord will fry instead of your computer's power supply and various hardware. If your extension cord isn't protected or you haven't got any circuit breaker or surge-protection hardware built into your power supply, your computer and any other device that's plugged in will get utterly fried into various states of unusability.
