Would it be possible to have dead bodies last forever if the person was killed by another player? Well, really not forever just until a cop came along and investigated the body which would yield them either the killer's name or some information as to who the killer is. That way criminals could kill people and get away with it and not get put on the wanted list unless a cop gathers enough clues to identify the killer.

Except without any cops online or any way of removing bodies (like if someone was killed in an impenetrable box), that would get laggy.  So bodies would have to "decompose" after a few minutes (or 15 seconds since it would be weird to have a player walking around when his corpse is still there).
