New announcement at the Town Hall:

More like: Don't drink the punch.

In responce of Niliscro's ideas..
Block Busters huge list of stuffty ideas!
I agree that there should be a lower limit for amount of properties, for a while I couldn't find a lot to buy unless I wanted to get something like a stuffty overpriced lot and then just delete and start from scratch. I also love the idea of other towns and cities besides just Mentropolis. I think if you did here would be my suggestion for some new towns:
-New towns-
Suburbs -A middleclass area purely for the houses, possible some small shops and nice houses, possibly pools?
Boondocks -A lower class area for some indestries and crappy broken down houses, no cameras and you can commit crimes and only suffer 1/4 demerits?
Lakeview -The high class place for huge houses, cottages, and mansions. Maybe some edited boats and a huge lake area?
Tradecenter -An area for the very city like area with large buildings and tall offices, high end shops, and maybe even a giant mall that you could sell out 16x16 spots inside that would generate a small amount of income and sell trinkets?
Grog -The other side of the river with radioactive pools and an area purely for industrial lots and buildings.
The outback -The country area that has really open area for places to grow crops for money and sell them. Where you can mine and cut trees. Maybe a mill to take wood and make planks that sell for more.
-New items-
Tazer -Obviously a small item that looks slightly like a gun, each one has 10 charges and it only works on people with a current wanted level
Souvener -Little shape things that you can place around your house, such as jewels, stuffed animals, and little useless things that are just ment to look
nice, also something you could throw
Crowbar -An object that can break bricks like windows or pieces instead of just doors (since most people make it impossible to break in using event) this item would break things for a certain amount of time and be a crime when you use it, aso can be used to hurt people.
Disquise -An object that will change your apperence and for half an hour make your wanted level down to two, untill the time is up or you get hit by a hammer
-Careers-
Hooker -The player starts out as a Hoe, just like a theif you click people to get money and its a crime. They also need to take special pills for their numerious deseases every other tick.
-Then the hoe can level up to hooker where they get paid twice what they steal but now need to take pills every tick
-researchstar would be the third level up where they get paid just for clicking on someone and they don't loose money, the downfall is if they don't take their pill every tick they can no longer have this job and while clicking you get a huge amount of dems.
-entrepreneur  would be the final level up where they no longer take pills but instead make a nice sum of money and don't
need to take pills.
Attention whore
-Start out as a backstage worker getting $20 an hour
-Ten make it to backup singer making $40 an hour
-Then make it to celeberty making $80 an hour, i mean tick ;/
-Finaly make it to attention whore and make $160 an hour
-A side note about this class is they are prone to getting robbed and are unable to use any weapons or armor.
-Some other things that don't have a catagory-
The cop bots -I know they have been talked about all the time but I'm just including that in here because i agree that it would be a good thing
A lower price on vehicles -I say this because it seems that the metropolis lacks that sense of bad drivers everywhere and all the J walkers, i know that some cars might be abused so maybe you can only use it if you have 15 or over in exp?

New announcement at the Town Hall:
Is that a quote from the Circle Trilogy?

In responce of Niliscro's ideas..
Block Busters huge list of stuffty ideas!

Suburbs Possible
Boondocks Not needed
Lakeview No, brickcount
Tradecenter Commercial lots may be introduced, ho0wever they probably won't be restricted to areas.
Grog No
The outback Might be a farming/rural district when we tackle farming

Tazer Used to have it, was abused and used to glitch into restricted places, so no.
Souvener We don't need any more dts models
Crowbar Possible, just use shotgun for now
Disquise Used the have a disguise command for assassins, I think it broke in a version update

Hooker No.
Attention whore No

The cop bots WIP
A lower price on vehicles No one uses vehicles because it's much easier and more fun to explore via walking.

Is that a quote from the Circle Trilogy?
Nope, just a joke people make sometimes.

I think Block has some good ideas, but they've been said before.

Cop Bots- On patrol ONLY in popular areas. Diggy experemented with these, but they need to be TOUGHER! :)

A disabling self defense weapon- Does not kill, but say jails in place for some small number of minutes- In which state, an offender can be jailed, beat up, killed... Or the defenseless can be robbed, killed or left to suffer :)

New city!! PLEASE! I'll gladly help design a new city layout- With areas, elevations, etc. Needs to change, please Diggy!

Also, I dislike the grapple. Heights should be unreachable, mountains/edges unpassable. Speedy travel in town is nice, maybe we need a slow scooter on the cheap?

I think the thing we need most is legal/illegal vendors, maybe a small revamp of the vendow class system-
Shopkeeper- Bow, spear, pill, small 9mm guns, rifle.
Store Owner- Deagle, shotgun, other medium arms.
Entrepreneur- Sells all above, and also has commodity bricks (Give health, or just give/donate funds... Nobody else should eb able to add health OR add funds with a brick)

Then they PICK- Both have same pay, illegal arms vendor earns small dems when weapons are purchasd.
Legal Arms Vendor- m4, armor, SPAS, nades (MAKE EXPENSIVE), but pays well
Illegal Arms Vendor- AK, RL, all sniper rifles, Uzi, armor, nades (CHEAP BUT BUYER EARNS DEMS), pay is lousy but markup can be good

You Silly Goose :3

On topic:Ive seen GREAT suggestions, but as nil said in a previous post, most are either too demanding for brick count, or are just things we already have.

-Carrot

You might be surprised the terrain which can be built, at low brick count :)

Maybe I'll start up my own server, build a demo cityscape.

I think the grapple should stay, but maybe the cost of it can be increased or the range of the rope decreased.

An all-new city is what would really get things going again.
But keep a few good town buildings like the police station/bank/town hall/etc.

Metropolis when it was young (god, I remember when it was 9000 bricks and titled "Small City RP") was always a lot of fun. There was still stuff to see - always something new, and a lot more to do.
I remember when it was just the slums and trenton. (Was it treton or trenton?)
What happened to ace, wasn't he an admin too?

Archive the current Metropolis build, it's well and truly old enough. Start a new one, with a new layout and new builds.
I'm sure tons of people would appreciate it if you would post such an archive, which contained the entire city with all events and stuff. I think it would also be nice if you would post the special bricks you added to your server so that we wouldn't be missing half the landscape when we loaded it.

I think a mountain with a road winding up it would be neat, with lot spaces along the road and the museum or something at the top.

I'm thinking 4 metro areas, with different elevations-

Beachfront/Metro (Lowest elevation, HQs and City Hall)
Resedential/Forest (Resources, Homes, Forest, med elevation, waterfront is cliffs)
Commercial/Industrial (Sales, Industry, med height but far from the resedential)
Resedential/Archive builds (High elevation, lake/river separation from town, think Welsk)

In essence, a T shape- Top of the T is the ocean/lake, left tip is the resedential/forest, right tip is commerical/industrial, between the 2 is the beachfront/Metro, and the bottom is the higher-elevation new Welsk.
