With each life, you get a brief amount of time to make whatever progress you can, and then you must start from the beginning with a new cursor. But the second time, there will be another cursor there reenacting your previous movements. And it goes on and on, until you've used ten cursors, in which case you lose.
The goal is to reach the 16
th floor.
