The fact is if Russia Attacked the US with missiles you'd couldn't defend it in the first place, because more likely then not the war would include nukes that'll just wipe each country out.

America doesn't really have the best relationship with Russia, especially after the Cold War.
Obama was trying to improve relationships with Russia a while ago, but with no success.
