9/30/09 Update 5 (Top of page 2!)

I decided to make the stairs correctly. Here's a shot from about waist height.

The second floor is also finished and ready for a roof.

Bonus basement shot.

How is it in-game?

As I said to a couple of friend who I showed the project to, I'd probably have a lot more interest in the topic if I were posting textured shots from Blockland but it's not worth the effort to drum up a little interest and hype up the project.

For in game screenshots I'd have to retexture it from scratch every time I edited it, there's not any way to update the map file from inside sketchup.

I've tweaked the display settings to be a bit less drab while I'm working, I can make a quick rendering in it since I'm sure everyone would like a little color.

EDIT:

In case anybody cares, the shadows match those casted by the sun on a late August/early September evening.

EDIT2:
I wish I had know about this earlier:

10/1/09 Update 6

Here's the final shots from inside sketchup. I'm going to try and have it in game by tonight. I put in some textures in sketchup so you can get an idea of what the finished building will look like. They're just default sketchup textures, which is why the framing has an ugly wood floor texture (but wouldn't you know, sketchup doesn't have an actual lumber texture).

Wow, let me know how big that will be in file size.
kthx.

It's half a megabyte.

It spawns fine in game but every time I try and light it the game crashes. I'll see if I can't get it working.

how done is it?
The model is done. I have to texture it and get it to load in Blockland without crashing.

Okay. Apparently if I export it in Torque Constructor it works fine. But if I export in in Quark it crashes the game when I light it. The problem is Torque Constructor seems to break textures if you load a saved map, so I'll have to sit down and texture it all in one go. I can't do that right now, it will have to wait until later.

Here is a picture from inside Blockland.

Looks great! Can't wait for release.  This reminds me of a house that's being built by mine, it was in that stage this map is in for a while.  It's been being built for LONG while.  Well, keep up the good work.

Lol, I thought this was about my map, because of the title format, and because "Small house" was one of Brick House's old names.  Anyways, are there any updates?

I was planning on working on it this weekend. Right now I'm tracking down the textures I used in the old unreleased map, I should have them still.

I've been pretty busy with midterms, which are fortunately out of the way now.

EDIT: I found all the textures, I'm thinking about photographing my house's foundation for a new concrete texture and getting some of my own metal and plywood textures instead of using default ones that come with Blockland and Torque.
