Author Topic: Request: Laser Projectile  (Read 1472 times)

Hey, I was playing around with the homing events, and thought "Man, would a laser be fun for this, or what?". What I mean by a laser projectile, is not the average dots that travel so unrealisticly slow, but a hitscan. Would it be possible to make a projectile without a weapon have a hitscan? If this is possible, and you are willing to make it, can you put a emitter(I think?) on to it? That would be great, and thanks in advance!

I was thinking of making "spawnRaycast" and "spawnHomingRaycast" events in the style of my raycasting weapons script and the existing events. Maybe I'll start it.

ok i see, kinda like a laser pointer that is being pointed at you, kinda cool, if you hade like a relay between a laser that is shot at a target then a rocket will hit the target, kinda like laser guided missles!

While on the subject, are you ever going to release that nifty acceleration event that fires semi-tracking projectiles? That sounded pretty sweet last you talked about it.

Also can you attach a mesh/emitter to a raycast or whatnot for special effects/shape effects? Bendy 3D mesh lasers would seriously own and I think Ephi mentioned something about attaching a mesh to a raycast like 2 years ago (can't find that exact post). I'm just wondering whether it's possible and what you could do with it.

I'm not sure. I tried to do this but you have to do a lot of messing with angles, vectors and axis things so I'm not quite sure how to get it to work. It's definitely possible if you have the right model.

Do you understand what a hitscan is?


Oh, well. I think it's a raycast type thing (no) that fires in a straight line through bricks an players, creating damag when it hits players. That would be a non-scripters response, so. It goes on forever instantly ands kills stuff.
