The poor aren't receiving enough money. Republicans have been in power for too long.
Democrats are in control now and things are still getting worse. It has nothing to do with political affiliation. That's what the media wants to lead you to believe. Have us fight each other rather than address the real problems. They're all one giant party in congress all fulfilling their own needs and not those of the people. The voting system itself is broken. We're supposed to be by the people for the people, which is the popular vote. Yet it is the electoral vote, the representation of the people by the elected officials that determine the actual outcome. I'm not sure why you don't see all the obvious clues, but we are moving rapidly towards a system of total government control. And on that day, no one's freedom will be respected or preserved. It's happening now.

loooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooool

You are quite the wacko. Stuff is getting worse because the democratic majority has a lot of infighting and conservative members, who should be republicans. Also, Obama wants all changes to be bipartisan, slowing down the process. He believes that unity is important for the future of the nation. You are really starting to sound like one of those conspiracy theorists, who say 9/11 was planned by the government and the moon landing was a hoax.

yeah no, rex, i agree with rughugger on this one

Where is the government slyly taking away our control? The election system was in place since the creation of the nation, and our rights have only increased. Suffrage was extended to everyone, and slaves became full citizens. The only problem I have with government control is media censorship. As long as we can change the channel, we have the right to say forget and watch people forget on TV.

How about that bill that let's Obama turn off the internet at any time he wants?

You mean the one that doesn't exist? You can't just "turn off" the internet.

You've proven yourself an idiot in the past, you can stop doing it now.

I actually have no idea what bill you're talking about, but since you seem to know all about this bill, you should know the bill number or name and be able to find it quickly. The bill number will begin with HR or S, but you already knew that. Here is a search link, you just type the bill number or name right it and it gives you the text of the bill.
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billsearch.xpd

For example, typing in S. 1047 will bring up the SAFE Internet Act with a summary telling you that Senator Robert Menéndez [D-NJ] introduced the bill on May 14, 2009 that gives the Bureau of Justice Assistance the right to grant money to organizations teaching Internet safety and that it's currently been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Of course this is just an example and obviously not the bill you are talking about.

I'd be very interested in seeing this bill so that I can send my objections to my representative. At the moment it just sounds like hearsay.

You mean the one that doesn't exist? You can't just "turn off" the internet.

You've proven yourself an idiot in the past, you can stop doing it now.

Reason why it's still a Bill, and supposedly for Cyber security reasons.

The only one here proving himself to be an idiot is you, You refuse to receive any information that goes against your principals, you are one of the most hardcore close-minded persons I've ever met, you bash people because they're Christian, or even if they have religion at all. You automatically assume something completely irrelevant when me or anyone else says anything. Just trying to have a decent conversation with you ends up with you going, "Jesus you're handicapped/idiot/stupid."

Back on topic

Two bills introduced giving the President the power to deem a private network part of the nation’s critical infrastructure and shut it down for cybersecurity reasons also gives the Commerce Secretary the power to access network data outside of oversight.

Then you'll come back and say, "Well this is for emergencies and national defense, you're an idiot."

Well that's why there's so much heat on this bill as quoted directly from GovTrack.us

Quote
Why is there so much paranoia about this bill?

Quote
Because it is too vague about what constitutes an emergency. Effectively, this could lead to a President disconnecting users or businesses for political motivation and reasons rather than a real emergency. This bill needs to be amended to limit the President's authorization based on the nature of the emergency and then accountability after the decision has been made.

I bolded some statements that a close-minded person such as yourself can understand.

This goes towards "Controlling the Media" now supposed if a real national emergency happened. Such as mass genocide and The government shut down the internet, thus they would be shutting down the people's voice of America to reach out into the world. And all this could be happening while everyone else in the world is unknown to the fact.

Oh haha thanks. Now that I think about it I looked through my RSS feeds and found out that gamepolotics did a short blurb about it but I have to admit I don't read it nearly as closely as I do my other feeds (for example, ars technica, which I'm surprised didn't do an article on it).

Anyway since none of my congressmen are on the committee and there isn't a final version out, I subscribed to it by RSS and will probably send in something/post a thread here asking other people to write letters when it gets to the floor, if it's not been revised.

The government have been slowly reducing our rights pretty much since radio and television came out. Primarily the first amendment. And whether or not you choose to believe it, I could care less either way, but the government controls content released by news media. FCC is a government run program. Our right to bear arms is constantly under question. Unlawful search and seizures can easily be bypassed with loopholes and red tape. (entrapment) The right to a fair trial has all but been abolished no thanks to stupid cases where a woman can sue a restaurant for being clumsy and spilling her hot drink on her own lap when common sense dictates that the cup came with a lid and steam was clearly visible indicating a hot beverage. I could go on and on and on. But our basic amendment rights are all pretty much out the door these days and no one seems to be seeing it happening right in front of us.

I am completely with rughugger

This is the poorest argument ever. The government has no money except ours, because the government is the representation of the people in an administrative body. Redistribution of wealth from richer people to less never hurt the economy.
yes, the constitution was meant to set up a government be representative by the people, but the only direct connection between the 2 is the the lower house of congress.communist

The poor aren't receiving enough money. Republicans have been in power for too long.
it doesn't really matter which party has been in power, and i would assume it would be extremely difficult to make a tax that would only target the rich, seeing as most* richer people worked hard for their money, and would argue that the people who didn't give a stuff about their future till now deserve to be equally taxed

BAHUMBUG. the only way to decrease overall power of the government is to separate it from the inside and keep it away from a majority party. you say obama wants the nation to become more unitary, to me that's like saying to everyone that he wants a stronger central government, which means less power for people

plenty of Supreme court cases i've read give a stuffLOAD of power to the government, and that power Can affect us directly, mainly through the states. For example South dakota vs Dole i think it is, south dakota was issued a grant with a crossover sanction saying that their drinking age be raised to 21 or they would pull 5% of the funds. The supreme court said it was constitutional and voila, no more drinking under 21. That's only one example that directly affects us, but i can find more. there's pleny of stuff that suggests outright that the government has become much more powerfull that it was intended

also to add, the only reason my dad lives in such a conservative city(he is a major atheist democrat) Is because it has the best education system in idaho. Even though everyone is a homophobic mormon obama hating republican. I remember the 04 election how every one except me in 5 grade wanted bush to be elected. God it makes me lol how ignorant and stupid they are when they call him a handicap like a year after the election. Nearly Everyone around me is brainless.

I liked obama ever since i saw him on the jay leno show, before the presidential debate started
