This country has always had taxes. It was just that the British taxed us without parliamentary representation.
Yes, but there was a period where we weren't a country and had to work off of nothing more than donations from sympathetic powers. There was no taxation then.

The colonies paid taxes to the British and their local governments.

Tom

Taxes. We all pay for each other in our times of need.
If where gonna make everyone pay more, why not just require them to have there own health care?

Until they decided they didn't want to anymore and form their own country.

They still paid taxes to their local governments and then the USA...

Because not everyone can afford it, but everyone has the right to it.

You can't pay taxes to a group of people who haven't fully confirmed themselves as a government yet. That is simply a donation drive.

The major problem is that the current US healthcare system follows a Laissez Faire capitalistic approach, which does NOT ensure any sort of quality standards other then "better then the other guy". You don't forget around with people's healths, because that ultimately comes back to forget the state up (oh yeah and it's unethical but who gives a stuff about ethics these days). Plus the amount of uncertainty and anxiety towards the health system is causing some civil unrest which is also not in the state's interests.

A more organized system is needed to keep the populace from loving dying, basically. This also falls under the fact that the populace is becoming older so a higher quality healthcare system will not only be recommended but paramount to keep things as civil and respectful as possible.

Of course, some people will try to take advantage of a government-controlled healthcare system but in contrast people are currently taking advantage of the capitalistic approach and millions are suffering because of it. Hmm tough choice.

Do you believe in Jose the Magic Peppercorn Doll? :o

Right now, I'm at the point where I make too much for state funded copay, but I don't make enough for any plan that offers any decent coverage for anything. I hate that I'm not broke, but I still can't afford healthcare.

wtf is with everyone thinking they know everything about politics?

Alot of people I know just listen to there parents, they either think McCain is good and Obama wants to kill babies or even worse OBAMA IS SO GREAT (no backup info) and it really annoys me when kids my age talk about it because its their loving parents opinion or they just jump on a band wagon, probably the same people who suddenly loved MJ after he died

the current US tax code is a huge scam lol.
